About

Die Ärzte formed in West Berlin in 1982 and have shaped German-language punk rock ever since. The trio is Farin Urlaub (guitar, vocals), Bela B (drums, vocals) and Rodrigo González (bass, vocals), with all three writing and singing. They split in 1988 and returned in 1993; from that period comes "Schrei nach Liebe", an anti-racist song that became their signature and climbed to the top of the German chart in 2015. "Männer sind Schweine" gave them a first number one in 1998. Fourteen studio albums in, the most recent are Hell (2020) and Dunkel (2021). The band has spent decades describing itself, tongue firmly in cheek, as "the best band in the world".
