Eko Fresh, born Ekrem Bora on 3 September 1983 in Cologne, is a German-Turkish rapper and actor. The son of Turkish parents, he grew up with his single mother in Mönchengladbach and in Cologne's Kalk district; his father is the musician Nedim Hazar. He started rapping at 15, soon met Kool Savas, and released his first EP in 2001; the 2003 single "König von Deutschland" reached number 15 in the German charts and was followed by his debut album "Ich bin jung und brauche das Geld". In 2004 he was nominated for an Echo award as a national newcomer and co-wrote Yvonne Catterfeld's number-one single "Du hast mein Herz gebrochen". He owns the independent label German Dream and also works as an actor.
