About
James Batchelor & Collaborators is the ensemble of Australian choreographer James Batchelor, from Ngunnawal Country in Canberra, which works between Australia and Europe. Over some fifteen years he has developed an internationally recognised choreographic practice presented across Europe, Asia and Australia. His work has been commissioned and presented by organisations and festivals including Aerowaves, Tanz im August, ImPulsTanz, Dansnät Sverige, Norrdans, Chunky Move and Dance Massive. Soon after graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts, Batchelor joined a two-month scientific expedition to the sub-Antarctic Heard and McDonald Islands, an experience that reshaped his artistic practice. The company's repertoire includes the solo "Notes of Self", which brings the history of Ausdruckstanz into dialogue with children's perspectives.
