About
JJ, born Johannes Pietsch in Vienna in 2001, is an Austrian singer with an Austrian father and a Filipino mother; he spent much of his childhood in Dubai before the family moved back to Vienna in 2016. He trained at the opera school of the Vienna State Opera and performs as a sopranist, blending opera and pop into a distinctive sound. In May 2025 he won the Eurovision Song Contest for Austria with the song "Wasted Love", scoring 436 points and becoming the first Eurovision winner of Southeast Asian descent. He had earlier appeared on The Voice UK in 2020 and on Austria's Starmania in 2021. In 2026 he released his EP "Into the Unknown" and toured with the shows "Act I: The Introduction" and "Act II: Into The Unknown".
