About
King Woman is an American doom metal band from San Francisco, California, originally formed in 2009 as a solo project by singer and guitarist Kristina Esfandiari. Their music blends doom metal with shoegaze, drone, post-rock and grunge influences. The lyrics often draw on Esfandiari's childhood in a cult-like charismatic Christian community in Northern California. The band signed to Relapse Records in 2016 and released its debut album, Created in the Image of Suffering, in 2017. A second album, Celestial Blues, followed in 2021.
