Marillion is a British rock band formed in Aylesbury in 1979 and widely regarded as one of the leading acts of the neo-progressive rock movement. During its first era with singer Fish (1981–1988), the band achieved major success with albums such as "Misplaced Childhood" and the hit single "Kayleigh". Since 1989 the band has been fronted by Steve Hogarth, whose tenure shifted the sound towards more atmospheric and lyrically layered material. Marillion is also recognised as a pioneer of music crowdfunding, having involved fans in financing its albums and tours since the late 1990s.
