Opeth is a Swedish band formed in Stockholm in 1990 and led by singer and guitarist Mikael Akerfeldt. The group blends progressive rock and metal with elements of death metal, folk and jazz, shifting between heavy passages and quiet, atmospheric sections. Albums such as Blackwater Park, Ghost Reveries and Watershed earned them international acclaim. Opeth is regarded as one of the most influential acts in progressive metal.
