About
Quadro Nuevo is a German instrumental quartet that came together near Salzburg in 1996, when four musicians met to record a film score. The band blends tango, valse musette, Mediterranean canzone, oriental grooves, swing and film music into an acoustic musical language of its own that sits outside fixed genre lines. Its core is Mulo Francel (saxophone, clarinet, mandolin), Andreas Hinterseher (accordion, bandoneon) and D. D. Lowka (bass, percussion), joined by a rotating fourth musician on piano, guitar or vibraphone depending on the programme. Besides numerous albums, the group has published the autobiographical roadbook "Grand Voyage" and audiobooks with narrators such as Ulrich Tukur.
