Rafet El Roman, born Rafet Yaşdut on 25 August 1968 in Uzunköprü in the province of Edirne, is a Turkish pop singer who also holds German citizenship. His parents moved to Germany in 1970; he stayed with his grandmother until he was seven and joined them after his first year of school, completing his education there. He began performing in 1988 and was named “Best of the Year” by Saarländischer Rundfunk radio in 1992. Returning to Turkey in 1995, he released the debut album Gençliğin Gözyaşı, which sold over a million copies and carried the standards “Sorma Neden” and “Seni Seviyorum”. Later records include Sürgün (2004) and Kalbimin Sultanı (2005); he has also acted in Turkish films such as Propaganda.
