About
The Rock Orchester Ruhrgebeat (ROR) is an orchestra of more than 30 musicians from Gelsenkirchen that combines a classic rock band with brass, strings, keyboards and eight to ten solo vocalists. The concept was conceived by Hans von der Forst, and the first concert took place on 4 October 1998 at Nordsternpark in Gelsenkirchen. Under the musical direction of Wolfgang Wilger, who also writes the arrangements, the ensemble takes its audience on a journey through around 60 years of rock and pop history. Its repertoire spans more than 200 songs across rock, pop, blues, rock 'n' roll, Schlager, swing and beat, and the ROR has become something of a trademark of the Ruhr region.
