Semino Rossi was born Omar Ernesto Semino in 1962 in Rosario, Argentina, and is today one of the best-known schlager singers in the German-speaking countries. The son of a tango singer and a pianist, he learned piano from his mother and taught himself guitar. In 1985 he flew to Spain with no return ticket and kept himself afloat busking and playing bars and restaurants; before long he moved on to Austria, where he made his name as a singer at dance competitions. In 2001 he was voted “world champion of Latin American music”, and in 2004 Florian Silbereisen's “Winterfest der Volksmusik” brought him to a mass German audience. His album “Ich denk an dich” went to number one in Germany and Austria in 2006. He supports the children's foundation “Juntos Podemos Crecer”.
