Shai is an American R&B vocal quartet that formed in 1992 at Howard University in Washington, D.C. The group consists of Marc Gay, Carl Martin, Darnell Van Rensalier, and Garfield Bright. They are best known for the a cappella single "If I Ever Fall in Love," which reached number two on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Their sound blends R&B, soul, and the new jack swing typical of the early 1990s.
