Stacey Kent is a Grammy-nominated American jazz vocalist, born on 27 March 1968 in South Orange, New Jersey, who settled in England early in her career. She studied comparative literature at Sarah Lawrence College before training at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she met tenor saxophonist Jim Tomlinson, whom she married in 1991. Kent made her recording debut in 1997 with 'Close Your Eyes' and has since released a steady stream of albums, many of them made in collaboration with Tomlinson. Her repertoire ranges from the Great American Songbook to Brazilian standards, delivered in an intimate, understated style that has made her a fixture of the international jazz circuit.
