Stadtkantorei Bochum is the supra-parish choir of the Protestant church district of Bochum and was founded in 1959 by the then cantor Eberhard Otte. The ensemble has around 85 to 110 singers and gives roughly three concerts a year. Its repertoire centres on the great oratorios from the Renaissance to the present day, with a particular emphasis on Johann Sebastian Bach alongside works by Handel, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Brahms and others. From its earliest years the choir has worked closely with the Bochumer Symphoniker. Its artistic director is Mechthild Jaskulsky.
