Voivod is a heavy metal band formed in 1982 in Jonquière, Quebec, Canada. Their sound blends thrash and progressive metal with dissonant chords and a recurring science-fiction and dystopian concept running through their work. Albums such as "Killing Technology", "Dimension Hatröss" and "Nothingface" made them one of metal's most influential and idiosyncratic groups. Drummer Michel "Away" Langevin and vocalist Denis "Snake" Bélanger have long anchored the lineup. In 2019 the band won a Juno Award.
