Yola, born Yolanda Claire Quartey in 1983, is an English singer-songwriter, musician, and actress. Before her solo career she fronted the band Phantom Limb and sang backing vocals for artists including Massive Attack and The Chemical Brothers. Her solo debut, Walk Through Fire (2019), earned four Grammy nominations, among them Best New Artist, and its follow-up, Stand for Myself (2021), brought two more. She has also acted, playing Sister Rosetta Tharpe in Baz Luhrmann's film Elvis (2022) and making her Broadway debut in 2024.
