The Schalterhalle of the Alter Bahnhof in Solingen is the listed reception hall of the former main railway station, built around 1910. After the city of Solingen acquired the site from Deutsche Bahn in 2001, the Südpark development emerged as part of the Regionale 2006 initiative, with artist studios, restaurants and a museum; the Schalterhalle itself has since been used for corporate events, concerts, theatre, comedy and public viewing.
