The Belgisches Haus in Cologne's Altstadt-Süd district was built by the Belgian state in 1948/49 and opened in February 1950 as the first foreign cultural institute in postwar Cologne. The five-storey building with its distinctive tuff-stone façade still serves as an event venue today and has also temporarily housed the Romano-Germanic Museum.
