Afrob (real name Robert Zemichiel, born 1 August 1977 in Bologna) is a German rapper and actor of Eritrean descent who grew up in Stuttgart. He started his career in the mid-1990s as a featured guest for allied crews such as Freundeskreis and Die Massiven Töne. In 1999 he released his solo debut "Rolle mit Hip Hop", followed by "Made in Germany" in 2001. Together with Samy Deluxe he forms the duo ASD, whose album "Wer hätte das gedacht?" (2003) reached number 5 on the German charts. Afrob is considered one of the defining figures of German-language hip-hop.
