Der Butterwegge, whose real name is Carsten Butterwegge, is a German musician and music producer rooted in the Ruhr area. His sound moves between folk, punk, rock and singer-songwriter, and he jokingly calls his style "Alko-Pop," where the lyrics matter more than the music. His album "Alle drehen durch" reached number 21 on the German album charts. He performs both with a band and solo, staging his solo shows as a musical spoken-word set full of anecdotes from the Ruhrpott, tour buses, bars and punk rock. He has also played large festivals such as Open Flair, Ruhrpott Rodeo and Punk im Pott.
