The Central Park Band from Bochum has been performing the songs of Simon & Garfunkel since the 1990s. The show takes its cue from the duo's famous reunion concert in New York's Central Park on 19 September 1981, which drew around 500,000 people. At its heart are the two-part harmonies of Jörg "Shorty" Thimm and Dieter Nientiedt, backed by acoustic guitars, on classics such as "The Sound of Silence", "Mrs. Robinson", "The Boxer" and "Bridge over Troubled Water". The band appears either as a full line-up or as a duo, and its repertoire also includes a "Graceland" programme built around Paul Simon's album of that name, with horns and percussion, as well as a duo show with a symphony orchestra.
