About

Götz Alsmann (born 12 July 1957 in Münster) is a German pianist, multi-instrumentalist, singer and entertainer. He earned a doctorate in musicology from the University of Münster in 1985 and has been an honorary professor of popular music there since 2011. His music blends jazz, swing and chanson, heard on acclaimed albums such as In Paris (2011), Am Broadway (2014) and In Rom (2017). He became widely known as co-host of the WDR talk show Zimmer frei! (1996–2016) alongside Christine Westermann, work for which he received the Grimme Prize in 2000.
