Klaus Hoffmann (born 26 March 1951 in Berlin) is a German Liedermacher (singer-songwriter), singer, actor and author. He became known to a wide audience in 1976 through the title role in the film adaptation of Ulrich Plenzdorf's "Die neuen Leiden des jungen W.", for which he received the Bambi and the Golden Camera awards. As a musician he has released numerous albums since 1975 and is regarded as one of the foremost German-language interpreters of the Belgian chansonnier Jacques Brel. In 1997 his musical "Brel – die letzte Vorstellung", written with the consent of Brel's widow Thérèse, had its premiere.
