About

The Harlem Gospel Singers are an American gospel ensemble founded by the singer Queen Esther Marrow, inspired by the New York district of Harlem. Their concerts blend gospel with jazz, blues, soul and R&B, sung by a group of solo vocalists backed by a live band on organ, piano, drums and guitar. For many years the ensemble has toured concert halls and churches across Europe. After Marrow retired from the stage, a re-formed line-up returned to German stages with pianist Anthony Evans, a long-time companion of the founder.
