Volker Weininger (born 22 January 1971 in Waldbröl) is a German cabaret artist, carnival orator (Büttenredner) and author from the Rhineland. After studying to become a teacher of German and English in Bonn, he worked for a time as a lecturer before making his debut with his first solo cabaret program in 2008. Since 2012 he has appeared in the Cologne Carnival as the stage persona "Der Sitzungspräsident" (The Session President), a seemingly tipsy official who casually delivers surprisingly profound truths. His speeches have earned him several awards, and he is regarded as one of the most popular carnival speakers in the region. Beyond carnival, he tours with full-length stage shows and appears regularly on German television, including WDR and ARD.
