Willi Wilden is a Rhenish dialect musician, composer and lyricist whose own website announces an “entertainment programme with his own songs and Rhenish classics”. Born in the Eifel and schooled in the Vorgebirge region, he came to the main stations of Bonn and Cologne as an official of the Deutsche Bundesbahn, where his colleague and friend Karl Eckel taught him the songs of Willi Ostermann. For many years he was a member of the trio Drei Colonias, performing on large stages and on travels around the world. The encounters and stories of that period produced a large body of his own songs in the Kölsch dialect, which he now presents in solo programmes.
