Abdelkarim (real name Abdelkarim Zemhoute, born 1981 in Bielefeld) is a German-Moroccan comedian, cabaret artist and TV presenter based in Duisburg. The son of Moroccan immigrants, his stand-up draws on his experiences with youth culture and life as someone growing up between two cultures in Germany, which he turns into sharp, personal comedy. He rose to prominence with solo programmes such as "Zwischen Ghetto und Germanen", "Staatsfreund Nr. 1" and "Wir beruhigen uns", as well as appearances on the satirical heute-show. On television he has hosted the WDR show "Team Abdel" and the football comedy show "Tippitaka". His awards include the German Television Award (2018) and the Golden Camera for best newcomer (2020).
