Nena, born Gabriele Susanne Kerner in Hagen, is a German pop singer and one of the most successful artists in German pop music. She rose to fame in 1982 with "Nur geträumt" and achieved international stardom in 1983 with the hit "99 Luftballons" during the Neue Deutsche Welle era. In 1989 she launched a solo career with the song "Wunder gescheh'n". With more than 25 million records sold worldwide, she ranks among the most successful musicians in the history of German pop and continues to tour regularly in Germany.
