Piero Masztalerz (born 17 September 1970 in Lübeck) is one of Germany's best-known cartoonists. After training as a reprographer, he has worked since 1991 as a cartoonist and graphic designer for outlets including Der Spiegel, the satirical magazine Eulenspiegel and the youth magazine Bravo. In 2003 he founded Comic-Animationen Hamburg, producing animated content for broadcasters such as NDR. His cartoons often tackle provocative themes such as sex, violence and religion, and he performs live cartoon shows that combine drawing with a stage program. He has won several awards, including the German Cartoon Prize (Deutscher Cartoonpreis) in 2011 and 2019.
