About
Sweet formed in London in 1968 and became one of the defining British glam rock bands of the 1970s. The classic line-up — singer Brian Connolly, bassist Steve Priest, guitarist Andy Scott and drummer Mick Tucker — first delivered the Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman hits "Wig-Wam Bam", "Block Buster!" (a UK number one), "Hell Raiser", "The Ballroom Blitz" and "Teenage Rampage". From Desolation Boulevard (1974) onwards the band wrote most of its own material: "Fox on the Run" was their first single with a band-written A-side, and "Love Is Like Oxygen" (1978) came from Andy Scott with Trevor Griffin. The band has sold more than 35 million albums. Andy Scott, the last surviving member of that classic four, has led the touring Sweet for decades and still plays that catalogue across Europe.
