About

Bläck Fööss are a legendary band founded in 1970 in Cologne, Germany, singing mainly in the local Kölsch dialect. Their sound blends rock, pop and carnival music with touches of blues, funk and reggae. As one of the longest-running and most successful Cologne groups, they helped modernise the image of carnival music in the Rhineland. Their name means 'bare feet' in Kölsch, a nod to their early habit of performing barefoot. Alongside cheerful hits, they have also addressed serious topics such as xenophobia in their songs.
