Höhner are a German band formed in Cologne in 1972, best known for their songs in the Cologne dialect (Kölsch) and their carnival music. Their name, meaning „chickens“ in the local dialect, comes from the group's early performances in chicken costumes. Their biggest hits include „Viva Colonia“, „Schenk mir dein Herz“ and „Wenn nicht jetzt, wann dann?“, the latter used as an anthem during the 2007 Handball World Championship. Over several decades they have released dozens of albums and become a fixture of Rhineland carnival celebrations. In 1999 they were awarded the Willi-Ostermann-Medaille, one of the highest honors of the Cologne Carnival.
