About

Michael Hatzius (born 1982 in East Berlin) is a German puppeteer and comedian best known for his larger-than-life puppet character "Die Echse" (The Lizard). He studied puppetry at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin, graduating in 2006. Since his first solo show in 2011 he has toured German-speaking countries with programmes such as "Echstasy", "Echsotherik" and, most recently, "ECHSKLUSIV" (premiered 2025). His work has earned him several honours, including the German Kleinkunstpreis, and he has appeared as part of the ensemble of the WDR programme "Mitternachtsspitzen".
